Publishing music of women composers, past and present.

Adela Maddison

1866 - 1929

Adela Maddison was born Katharine Mary Adela Tindal, probably in Ireland. She composed and published songs, including a collection of Twelve Songs that appeared in 1895. Although some songs and a few chamber pieces were published in her lifetime, frustratingly little of Maddison's music has survived. Her manuscripts do not seem to have been preserved, although it is possible that Martha Mundt (the main beneficiary and executor of her will) may have deposited them in some as yet unknown location in Switzerland or Germany. Research continues. For further information, see "Women Composers: Music Through the Ages," volume VII and HPC 02039.
