Adaline Shepherd

1883 - 1950

Adaline Shepherd was born in Iowa and spent much of her life in Milwaukee. Her popular rag Pickles and Peppers (1906) was used by William Jennings Bryan as his 1908 presidential campaign song. Another one of her works, Wireless Rag, is an example of the descriptive music published at the turn of the century where the cover of the sheet music is often a reflection of a new technology which the music attempts to imitate.
