Nadia Boulanger

1887 - 1979

Eminent French pedagogue, composer, and conductor, Nadia Boulanger received her formal training at the Paris Conservatory. The first woman to conduct a symphony orchestra at a Royal Philharmonic Society concert in London, she ceased composing shortly after her sister's death in 1918. She is acknowledged as to be one of the most influential musicians of her time, having taught many of the foremost composers of the 20th century.
