You are here: Home / Composers / Bembo, Antonia

Antonia Bembo (1643 - 1715)

Bembo received her musical training in Venice. Her arias and cantatas are characterized by vocal virtuosity, long melismas, and expressive dissonances. Her other works reflect the time she spent in France, demonstrating the use of French idiom, as well as gallic prosody and numerous metric changes.
