Emilie Mayer (1812 - 1883)
Before her thirteenth birthday, Emilie Mayer gave a concert of her own compositions, including orchestral, choral, chamber, and piano works. Her compositions were lauded by both the Royal Prussian Court as well as the Archduchess Sophie of Vienna. She received the gold medal of art from Queen Elizabeth of Prussia, became an honorary member of the Philharmonic Society of Munich, and co-director of the Opera Academy in Berlin.
