Louise Heritte-Viardot (1841 - 1918)

Born into a famous musical family in Paris, HŽritte-Viardot studied a variety of subjects including piano, music theory, opera, anatomy, physiology, zoology, and literature. Her music studies were with her mother, Pauline Viardot-Garcia, the famous singer and composer. She married Heritte, a French Consul-General, with whom she lived at the Cape of Good Hope and in Paris, finally settling in Berlin. Louise Henritte-Viardot composed numerous songs, a one-act opera, piano solos, and several chamber works.
