Maria Leopoldine Blahetka (1811 - 1887)
Leopoldine Blahetka caused a sensation in Vienna when, at the age of eight, she performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto in B-flat major. Beethoven himself was so impressed with her technical prowess and musicality that he later suggested that she teach his nephew. By 1825 she was performing her own music in public. Blahetka composed about seventy works, continuing to teach and perform throughout her life.
