Wanda Landowska (1879 - 1959)

Wanda Landowska, world-renowned harpsichordist and pianist, showed exceptional gifts for music at a very early age and studied piano with the best Chopin-ists of her time. Although she was raised in the midst of Romanticism, Landowska was always attracted to the music of Bach, Rameau and Mozart. This interest led her, through extensive research, to the resurrection of the harpsichord, its forgotten technique, and the study of the rules of interpretation of the Baroque and Classic periods.
