Luise Le Beau (1850 - 1927)
Luise Adolpha Le Beau, born in Rastaat, Baden, showed musical talent at an early age. A composer, concert pianist, music critic and teacher, she lived an extraordinary life during which thirty-five of her sixty-six compositions were published. She was considered by major musical figures of her time to have been the first German woman composer to be widely recognized as a composer in the heavily male-dominated German musical tradition.
