Description
Prayer to Aphrodite was composed in 1975 for alto flute and string quartet. The piece was included on Gardner’s first recording, Mooncircles. In Gardner’s original composition, the alto flute carries the melody throughout while the strings provide accompaniment. This edition for solo flute is made available with permission from the heirs of Kay Gardner. The edition reproduces the composer’s manuscript and is in her own handwriting. Score and parts for the original version of Prayer to Aphrodite for alto flute, 2 violins, viola and cello (SG-3403) will be available summer 2025.
