The spiritual You Can Tell the World was fertile ground for Margaret Bonds’ compositional genius. She first arranged it for solo voice and piano, then went on to write an orchestrated version for solo voice, and a number of choral settings. (for the SSA version see 392-03117)
The SATB setting is unique for it diverges from her traditional method of interchanging new voicings over existing harmonic accompaniment by being written for unaccompanied choir.
