Bee Suite was composed in 1992 with the intent of “giving brass players something more to do – a little more work for the players than the usual [fare]”. Intrigued with the variety of bees and their hive societies, Bailey captures their unique qualities and behavior in her music.
Bailey’s style is anchored in the classical tradition mixed with elements of 20th century jazz and American rhythms.
