Description
for Soprano solo, SATB chorus, tambourine, hand drum
Editor: John Michael Cooper
This work is typical of the unrelenting originality of Margaret Bonds’ arrangements of spirituals. It was composed in 1969 for legendary soprano Leontyne Price and the A Cappella Choir of Rust College. This setting is a tour de force of increasing energy and inspiration – a musical call to arms for the cause of social justice that was central to Bonds’ creative persona.
